Cuterebra-Definition and Meaning

“Cuterebra” is a genus of botflies, which are parasitic insects belonging to the family Oestridae. The larvae of Cuterebra species typically infest mammals, including rodents and occasionally domestic animals like cats and dogs. The adult flies are characterized by their distinctive appearance, often having large, robust bodies and a grayish color. The larvae develop inside the host, causing various health issues and sometimes requiring veterinary intervention to remove them.
