cloudburst-Definition and Meaning

A “cloudburst” is a sudden and intense rainfall event that typically occurs when a small area of the atmosphere becomes saturated with moisture. This phenomenon can lead to heavy downpours resulting in rapid runoff, flash flooding, or mudslides. Cloudbursts are often characterized by their short duration but can deliver a large amount of rain in a brief period, sometimes exceeding several inches in just a few minutes.
